The Role

Reporting to the Human Resources Generalist, the HR Co-op/Intern would assist the HR team with acquiring new talent for the organization. This role heavily focuses on creative recruitment. 

Learning outcomes

  • You will be given the opportunity to work with Schaefer North America and Mexico teams to support the talent acquisition function.
  • You will have an opportunity to contribute to our complex recruitment projects in Canada and/or USA

  • You will gain hand-on experience in strategic sourcing and creative recruitment.

Responsibilities

  • Constantly looking for new ways to market the open positions of SSI Canada in Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec
  • Creating and managing networks to build quality candidate pools
  • Maintaining and updating various job boards, prime time posting of job adverts
  • Sorting through the applications and screening the eligible candidates
  • Reaching out to qualified individuals through resume mining
  • Analyzing similar jobs in the industry in terms of skills, pay, etc. and identifying the bottlenecks
  • Supporting the Schaefer US team with various recruitment activities
  • Researching and finding new recruitment avenues like job fairs and participating in those events
  • Scheduling interviews for the HR and other hiring managers
  • Proactively reporting identified recruitment trends and other opportunities
  • Assisting with the on-boarding of new hires and other HR tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • The candidate must currently be enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program at a recognized college or university
  • The enrolment of the student at the college or university must be in good standing
  • The candidate must require a co-op placement to graduate from his/her current program of enrolment
  • The candidate must be able to provide a letter of confirmation about the co-op requirement from the designated learning institution
  • The candidate must possess the ability to learn quickly and multitask daily
  • Candidates with good MS office skills and other web application skills are highly preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication is a must
  • Prior experience in recruitment and selection is an asset
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to communicate in French is an asset (not mandatory)
